Who should attend
This cohort is ideal for soon-to-be, new, or recently promoted managers who want to improve their management skills so that they can be more effective in their roles and lead their teams more confidently.
The extraordinary challenges presently faced by the business community call for strong and effective management skills. A skilled manager can lead the whole team forward. And like any skill, management skills can be learned.
The Emerging Leader cohort is a 5-week program (2-hour weekly learning sessions) of interactive workshops to equip emerging leaders with management skills they can use right away to help their teams grow and succeed.
What's included
Week 1
Feedback & coaching
Regular one-on-ones are shown to have the greatest single effect on motivation and engagement – if they’re done the right way. Here, we explore research supported methods anyone can use to hold great one-on-one meetings.
Week 2
Setting direction
Learn to delegate and set direction so people can perform well even when you’re not there. The way you assign and monitor tasks plays a huge role in how motivated your team is… and ultimately in your own success.
Week 3
Truly effective listening
Listening is a skill, and most of us must work at it. Just reminding yourself to “listen” doesn’t work, but anyone can learn and apply the mindset and skillset of excellent listening. With a bit of practice, you can be – and be seen as – a great listener.
Week 4
Challenging conversations & building trust
“Trust in Leadership” is made of four main factors. Challenging conversations can make or break trust. Here we unpack the science of trust and lay out clear, real-world, structures for challenging conversations that get results while preserving the relationship between those involved.
Week 5
Final project presentations & graduation
We will review the key themes of the sessions and students will give a short presentation about their learnings. We’ll then celebrate!
Reunion
A reunion session will be held after 3 months.
