Docker containers are a disruptive technology redefining concepts of virtualization and deployment.  What is Docker? Docker is often described as a lightweight virtual machine (VM).  But it so much more with the potential to redefine modern IT.  Yes, from DevOps to Microservices, Docker is already having an enormous impact!  You will leave class with an understanding of the Docker architecture, vocabulary, and the ability to install and manage Docker containers in the workspace.  Most importantly, student will emerge with an understanding of the disruptive nature of Docker and how to harness that for their benefit.

Docker containers are often described as lightweight Virtual Machines (VM).  In class students learn the pro and cons of containers versus traditional VMs.  The Docker ecosystem and technology stack will be explained, such as the Docker Machine, Docker Daemon, and Docker Images.  Finally, configuring Docker networking and port management will be presented.  You will then have the tools necessary to begin deploying, managing, and using Docker.

The class is super hands-on.  Within an hour, students are creating their first Docker containers and running applications. Every topic is reinforced with immediate hands-on experience and lab exercises.  This is a class for anyone wanting to explore the vast capabilities of Docker.
