| Candidates of the VC-VIP exam work with virtual machines in medium to large scale enterprise virtual environments. The typical candidate is a system administrator or engineer that is expected to know and understand ESX installation, configuration, administration, troubleshooting, and overall operation of a Virtual Infrastructure environment. A successful candidate will be able to build virtual machines, clone virtual machines, copy virtual machines, configure virtual networking, configure virtual switches, understand different storage types and solutions, successfully P2V a production environment to a virtual infrastructure, understand server consolidation, use 3rd party tools to support a Virtual Infrastructure, install Virtual Center, setup clustering (both HA and DRS), understand ESX best practices, backup and restore VM's, know the ESX servers critical files and directory structure, and be able to support the ESX server from the command line. It is recommended that a candidate planning to take the VC-VIP exam have a minimum of 6 months working with ESX or ESXi. | ||
